Rutherford stole my heart from the very beginning.
A wine grown from a single vineyard situated at the base of Rutherford’s western bench, this expression of Cabernet Sauvignon epitomizes everything I adore about the varietal through the lens of this Napa Valley appellation.
I have been lucky to work with many vineyards throughout Napa Valley, but something about the AVA’s ability to marry complex ripe fruits with its famous dusty, earthy tannins and depth of layers has always spoken to me.
I have always marveled at this juxtaposition considering Rutherford’s climate can be warmer than many of its surrounding areas, and it almost feels as though the fruit and vines are protected by a force beyond our control, producing fruit of exceptional purity and energy.
